Group Health Insurance for SCE Faculty Members

1. Coverage and Services:

Basic Level:

a. Transplants in Israel and abroad and special treatments abroad

b. Medications that are not included in the Israeli health package

c. Surgeries abroad

Extended Level:

d.Coverage of surgeries in Israel, as defined in Chapter 4 of this agreement 

Option 1: extended package for surgeries in Israel from the first NIS

Option 2: extended health services ("Shaban") package for surgeries in Israel

e. Surgery replacing treatments

f. Ambulatory services

Window of Opportunity Timeframe for Joining Insurance: .2

Joining the insurance program will be possible for three months only (!) from the day the program begins, without requiring medical underwriting (there is no need for a current medical condition statement) and without a qualification period. After this period (October 1, 2015), joining the insurance program will require a full medical statement.

Defining a Relative of SCE Faculty and Staff: .3.

A spouse that is married to the insured faculty or staff member or is a legal partner that lives with the member and shares a home with them but is not legally married to the member will be considered a spouse. This includes partners of the same sex, children, sons/daughters in law, and grandchildren. Please note: The "relative" joining the insurance policy is subject to the joining of the SCE faculty/staff member.

4. Joining of SCE Staff - Basic Level

SCE employees may join this policy in accordance with the window of opportunity timeframe, 90 days from the starting date of the policy, and only following their signing a request form. The college's management will finance the basic level for employees without grossing up tax.

  1. Joining the basic level for spouses/ legal partners, children, sons/daughters in law and grandchildren of SCE staff

Joining is voluntary, and subject to filling out a membership request form, and in accordance with the window of opportunity timeframe and the definition of the relative.

5. Joining of SCE Staff and Relatives - Extended Level

SCE employees and their relatives may join this policy in accordance with the window of opportunity timeframe, 90 days from the starting date of the policy, and only following their signing an extended request form and a wage deduction consent form.
