Construction of the permanent SCE Campus in Ashdod is about to begin
Following the upcoming Passover holiday in April, SCE will celebrate a landmark event. We are pleased to announce that the work towards the establishment of the permanent SCE Campus in Ashdod will finally begin.
Ashdod’s permanent SCE Campus will have two buildings that house: the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation; a library; classrooms; laboratories; and the academic departments. The Campus will cover an area of ca.14,000 m2 [= ca.16,744 yd²). This construction project will be executed by the “Minrav Group,” chosen to serve as the primary contractor. The work on this project, planned by Architect David Knafo of “Knafo Klimor Architects,” is expected to take 25 months, and the cost of this new Campus is estimated at 111 million NIS (Excluding VAT).
The instigators who pushed for the realization of this project are SCE’s founder, Prof, Jehudah Ḥaddah, and the College’s Managing-Director, Ms. Zohar Wohlfarth Cohen, who toiled for years to make it actually happen. Yesterday (Monday, 10.3.2025), a meeting was held to kick off this project. Besides the two initial instigators, among the participants were: Amichay Asnafi, an SCE Engineer; Dima Goroḥovsky, Kidan Project Manager; and representatives of “Minrav”—the Managing-Director, Lior Einav; the Avi Ben-Zaken, Deputy Director General for Business Development; and the Deputy Director General for Tenders and Engineering, Ms. Marom Ytzḥaki.
In the words of Rector Haddad: “The establishment of the new SCE Ashdod Campus is a historic moment symbolizing the growth and expansion of SCE, not merely as a leading academic institution, but also signifying our deep interaction with the local community and the City of Ashdod. This project will have a beneficial impact on the generations of privileged students who come to Ashdod and enjoy our new hub of knowledge, innovation and opportunities. The new Campus will serve as a stepping-stone in SCE’s history, granting the coming generations the tools and opportunities necessary for personal development and becoming leaders in many fields—thus, changing the face of the City of Ashdod and its society.”
Ms. Wohlfarth Cohen said: “After years of hard work and planning, I’m happy that my vision is becoming a reality. The fortunate students who will study on the new Campus will receive an excellent education and will contribute to Ashdod’s transformation into a hub of excellence, entrepreneurship and innovation. We’re very proud to be part of the texture of urban renewal in Ashdod, and to inculcate the youth in the region with the tools for success and the leadership of significant social changes.”
Representing “Minrav,” Einav added: “For us, winning the tender for the establishment of the new SCE Campus is a significant opportunity to promote the future generation and, together, to build the Israel of tomorrow. As a company, the “Minrav Group” is a leader in the field of construction; as such, our infrastructures adhere to the highest standards of quality and performance, while meeting the needs of the students and the staff members. SCE graduates fit right into key positions in leading companies—for example, some of those hired by “Minrav” are expected to take part in this project. We thank SCE’s Management for placing their trust in us and we await the completion of this project—one that will significantly contribute to strengthening Israel’s southern region.”
