Medical Sciences Imaging

The Department of Medical Imaging on the Be’er-Sheva campus is offering a B.Sc. degree in Medical Imaging—a rapidly developing medical-technological field.

The goal of these studies is to train competent professionals for this occupation, in hopes that they will work in the southern region, where they are much needed.

As such, SCE graduates in Medical Imaging will be quickly absorbed by local medical organizations, thus filling the large manpower void, experienced daily in the local hospitals, where various imaging services are hampered.

Undergraduate Program

The academic track for a degree in Medical Imaging is intended for young people with a vision, who are interested in becoming part of the Israeli health system, both in hospitals and in imaging institutions—by joining this interesting field that poses significant challenges and has an impact on the quality of life of all Israel’s citizens, and particularly in the southern region.

This course of studies, granting a scientific Bachelors’ degree (B.Sc.), spans three-years, during which all the academic classes take place at SCE’s campus while the practical studies are given at the local Soroka/University Medical Center and at the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon. Throughout this study program, the students will acquire the basic concepts and an understanding of the various Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Physics, and Advanced Technologies, while learning the physical principles of a variety of imaging methods, also gaining knowledge of the many pathologies that require examination by means of medical imaging.

Graduates with a B.Sc. in Medical Imaging will have both fundamental and theoretical knowledge of the sciences: Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Social Sciences, and Computer Science. They will have a deep understanding of imaging, know how to attain the best possible images, and be able to determine the most suitable means of imaging to use for every type of photo, X-ray, etc. They will also have sufficient knowledge of Pathology, so they can choose the most appropriate imaging technique for the examination of each case. SCE graduates will be capable of innovative, creative, and critical thinking, thanks to the practical and theoretical toolbox they have been given for work in the field of Medical Imaging in this advanced age.
