Electrical engineering and electronics is unique in such that it comprises numerous scientific-engineering professions across almost all of the knowledge-intensive fields. Electrical and electronics engineers can be take on various positions within the realm of advanced industries – from the planning and development of electronic components, to planning and development of information systems and monitoring, through to computer developing and implementation.
Nowadays, all areas of electrical engineering and electronics are changing rapidly. In order to ensure an optimal integration process into the workforce, along with the ability to endure the dynamics of the industry, this department provides its graduates with extensive scientific background and foundations. It starts with a careful selection of students admitted into the department, and continues by maintaining a high level of studies throughout the program. Through this approach, graduates receive the tools they need to meet today’s engineering challenges, and to provide solutions for future challenges. Furthermore, these graduates will be able to continue to pursue their studies in advanced degrees and research in various engineering fields.
The department offers several Project Oriented courses, in which students receive tasks that grant them experience in the actual work of an engineer. These tasks require students to internalize the theoretical material and to connect it with interesting engineering applications that are relevant to the subject of the course.
The department supports the idea of building relationships within the industry, and conducts academic tours for students at leading companies in the field of electrical engineering and electronics. It also conducts industry days, where professionals from within the industry give lectures to update students about the current endeavors of the electrical engineering and electronics market.
The department’s faculty members maintain international relationships with their research counterparts across the globe. These relationships lead to student exchanges and collaborative research projects.

The rapid technological developments of recent years, along with the importance of energy conservation, have had a significant effect on the electricity market. There is an increasing demand for the innovative planning of electrical manufacturing devices and improvements in existing devices that use electricity, such as motors, convertors, lighting systems and electronic output systems. Additionally, the use of advanced computer systems such as the "smart grid" has revolutionized the way in which output systems of all levels are planned and operated. All of these market developments require the integration of highly skilled professionals with extensive knowledge in their field, who have received the relevant education provided by advanced academic studies.
Alongside the changes in the Israeli electricity market, due to the privatization of the Israeli Electric Company, and with the massive entry of alternative electricity manufacturers, the right conditions have been set in place for the development and expansion of production plants and for the transport of electrical energy. This significant shift of circumstances will ultimately lead to the establishment of new power plants based on gas turbines, wind turbines and solar fields. This new electricity market will require a large base of electrical engineers specializing in strong electrical output/current systems, with a wide ranging base of knowledge beyond what is acquired in an undergraduate degree program in electrical and electronics engineering. These combined circumstances provide numerous opportunities for engineers in the fields of electronics and electricity, who have chosen a new professional direction, while enhancing their knowledge of the required professional disciplines.
Despite the increasing demand for output system engineers, the number of academic institutions that offer relevant educational programs is very small. Therefore, there is a significant lack in engineers in the market, especially highly professional ones with a graduate degree. As a result, the demand for engineers specializing in strong electrical output/current systems is expected to rise, in Israel and across the globe, due to the increasing lack of these professionals worldwide.
The graduate programs in output systems and artificial intelligence and cyber enables students to acquire the knowledge required for being successfully integrated in the developing electricity market. During their studies, each of the students will conduct individual research in the fields of production, transport, and use of energy, while maintaining high utilization rates. These endeavors and experiences broaden their horizons, and enable them to pave their way into the scientific development segment in this field. Graduates of the program will ultimately lead the future in research and developments within the Israeli energy sector.
The program's graduate studies curriculum does not include a thesis, and is designed for engineers with a B.Sc. in electrical and electronics engineering, as well as those with an undergraduate degree in natural sciences, who have completed the relevant supplementary studies required. The program includes 36 credits spanning two academic years, enabling students to work throughout their studies. Outstanding students will be offered the opportunity to conduct a research-based final project.
