Dr. Oshrat Ontman

Dr. Oshrat Ontman is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering Since 2009, brings to this position her experience in research. She graduated with a BSc in Chemical Engineering (specializing in Biotechnology), and an MSc (with honor) in chemical engineering. She graduated with a Ph.D. in the Biotechnology Engineering from Ben Gurion University. During her Ph.D Thesis she discovered the novel N-glycosyation in red algae glycoproteins. As an expert in the algal biotechnology field her research is focused on identifying the structure and function of sugars in red microalgae polysaccharides, including investigating their anti-inflammatory and antioxidants properties - with the ultimate goal of elucidating the process of polysaccharide production in red microalgae, and eventually identifying their full potential in biotechnological applications
