Students visit the largest exhibition in the world for technology innovations

Outstanding students from the Chemical Engineering department were sent to the largest exhibition in the world for innovative technologies in the chemical and biotechnology industry

The ACHEMA world exhibition, held once every three years, took place in Frankfurt in June. ACHEMA is the largest exhibition in the world for technology innovations in the chemical and biotechnology industries. As such, it attracts thousands of visitors from around the world and provides a direct platform for learning about and meeting leading companies and engineers.

The Chemical Engineering department sent four outstanding students to the exhibition this year: Shira Biton and Shlomi Biton from the Be’er Sheva campus, and Shloma Cohen and Noam Schnarch from the Ashdod campus. The four students were accompanied by Dr. Kfir Ben Harush.

The head of the Chemical Engineering department at the Be’er Sheva campus, Dr. Ariela Burg, and head of the Chemical Engineering department at the Ashdod campus, Dr. Michal Goldenberg, expressed their thanks for the important tradition of giving students the opportunity to visit the exhibition: “The students’ experience is undoubtedly very special and not at all taken for granted. This is another example of the uniqueness of the college compared to other academic institutions”.

Shloma Cohen recounted: “We had an enjoyable and enriching week. We learned about and saw a wide range of advanced systems in the chemistry and biotechnology industry, among them reactors, separation systems, pumps and more. This is a huge complex, and even seven days were not enough for us to see everything. We learned bout many companies and technologies, gained an impression and asked questions, and at every booth received many souvenirs! Among other things we visited the Pfaudler company that specializes in manufacturing glass-lined reactors, and observed all stages of the process. The visit was an amazing and enriching experience, with an incredible team. Thank you so much to the college for selecting us”.

Shira Biton added: “We were exposed to a range of huge companies that offer services to plants, laboratories and more. We enjoyed seeing processes and equipment that up until now we had only learned about theoretically, and to receive answers to our questions".

We look forward to the next experience at ACHEMA 2021!
