Tech-Fest 26

The SCE “Tech-Fest 26,” the largest technological festival in Israel’s southern region, drew senior industrialists, students, leading academicians and researchers in Israel and from abroad in the fields of Engineering, Sciences, Visual Communication and Architecture

Fourth-year (senior) SCE graduates displayed their final projects, representing a variety of fields and presenting a plethora of innovative developments, including projects “with a social angle”—having social and community value, promoting the building of a better world and future for the environment and all society.

Among the novel developments presented by the graduates:

*A system for the real-time identification of hovercraft—using processed videos and advanced AI algorithms, this system improves the ability to identify and distinguish between drones and birds, thus reducing false alarms. This project is meant for Israeli security agencies, defense systems, and more sensitive infrastructures, dealing with the growing threat of drones entering public and security areas.

*EveryDay, an AI-based system that provides communication skills to autists on the spectrum—by providing simulations of day-to-day situations, such as talking to a banker, placing an order with a waiter in a restaurant, or how to behave during a work interview. This system in meant for high-functioning teenagers and adults on the spectrum; it helps them improve their communication skills, to strengthen their sense of ability and to promote their integration into society and the labor market.

*MOVA, a VR (virtual reality) application for disabled people who have lost limbs. It enables them to do physiotherapy by using VR technology to perform rehabilitative exercises at home. This solution enables more comfortable, accessible, continuous treatment, while reducing the physical and psychological difficulty entailed by having to go get medical treatment at rehabilitation clinics.

*Architecture responds to trauma, an architectural model for patients coping with PTSD by creating an environment suited to each patient’s emotional and spiritual needs. By means of gradual spatial planning, including spaces that are: protective; adjustable; and supportive—with fewer triggers, that strengthen a sense of security, and promote healthier, renewed integration into society.

In addition, throughout the days of the festival, the 4th-year (senior) students in SCE’s School of Architecture had an open exhibit. This exhibit, based on works from the different studios, displayed deep research about the Negev region—its unique living conditions, different types of settlements and subsistence, their diverse communities, and the connections between humankind, the natural environment, the infrastructures and aspects of sustainability.

SCE’s Department of Computer Sciences held the “ADTM-2026 Conference,” an international, academic conference on artificial intelligence (AI), Information Science and technological management, sponsored by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), the leading organization in the fields of Engineering and Technology.

Similarly, SCE’s “Annual International Research Conference,” headed by the Dean of the Engineering Faculty, Prof. Victor Kagalovsky, provided opportunities for the presentation of lectures before an audience comprised of leading researchers and their partners from abroad. Three sessions were held, focused on the use of AI in Engineering, in applications to substances and in Mathematics.

Prof. Jehuda Haddad, SCE’s Founder: “SCE is educating and raising generations of engineers (men and women) who combine excellence and professionalism with social responsibility and values. The projects displayed at the festival demonstrate how technology and engineering can serve as a real engine, motivating improved quality of life and designing a better for us all. This third annual “Tech-Fest” has become a hub, attracting researchers, experts and leading industrialists from Israel and abroad. We consider it a great privilege to host internationally known professionals, who come to share their knowledge with the College community and the general public, thus strengthening our international ties.”
