Dvir Shabtay

Dvir Shabtay  is a Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. He holds the Sir John and Lady Cohen Chair in Business and Industrial Management, and earned his bachelor's, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the DeGroote School of Business of McMaster University and spent one year as a visiting professor at the University of Sydney.

His research interests include scheduling, combinatorial optimization, and approximation algorithms. Dvir has published extensively in journals such as Omega, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management (MSOM), Discrete Applied Mathematics, INFORMS Journal of Computing, European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR), Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Scheduling, Algorithmica, and Journal of Computer and System Sciences, among many others.

He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Scheduling and the INFORMS Journal of Computing and is a member of the editorial board of the European Journal of Operational Research (EJOR).

Dvir also served as a consultant for the Bank of Israel for approximately 20 years, advising on inventory policy and the management of the national currency.
